"We're done Zoey, we are finally done" Cassie cheers at me as we exit the room from our final exams.
"I don't ever want to see another periodic table for as long as I live" I announce as we wait for Tess and Declan, their last exam running longer than ours
"Drinks tonight?" Cassie asks
"Yes, anywhere but The Stargazer please" I tell her and she nods her head understanding why I'm still avoiding going back in there.
"The Rattlesnake?" She suggests and I agree.
Tess and Declan exit the exam room with smiles as big as Cassie's and mine.
"We are going to The Rattlesnake to celebrate" I tell them
"I'll message Sam, he finished his exams yesterday" Declan tells us.
We head to our homes to get ready for our celebration.
The Rattlesnake juice bar is jam packed with other students, all celebrating the end of their exams. We order drinks and food, sit at a large table and toast to us. I love nights like these, nights with these four people who I adore, nights like these distract me from my thoughts of Angus.
"Let's dance" Cassie says, grabbing my hand. The dance floor is crowded but we mange to find a small space near the back. The club DJ is pumping out top 40 hits and we are swaying to the beats.
"I need a drink" I announce to after we've been dancing for an hour and she nods. I walk to the bar, which is surprisingly empty except for 3 guys who are sitting at the bar with their drinks. I order my vodka soda and wait.
"Hey" One of the boys greets me
"Hey" I reply, shyly. Hurry up mixologist, I'm not up for socialising with random boys in a bar.
"Uni student?" He asks me, not taking any notice of the fact that I'm showing no signs of interest.
"No, year 12, we finished our exams today" I explain.
"Congratulations"
"Thanks"
My drink is placed in front of me, thank fuck, I can leave the area and go back to my friends, I turn to go but Mr Chatty is not ready to give up yet
"I'm a first year at uni, Communications degree" He volunteers information, "My name's Charlie, by the way" He extends a hand in my direction and I shake it.
"I'm Zoey"
"Take a seat Zoey, I won't bite, I promise" He says smiling. He seems friendly enough so I sit beside him, I think the vodka is kicking in, "Are you going to University next year?" He asks
"Yeah, to Britechester" I tell him
"What do you want to study?" He questions me
"Veterinary" I had finally decided
"Wow, that's impressive"
"Thanks"
"Can I get your number? We could go for a drink one night" He asks, direct, straight to the point. He didn't have to call Tess and ask if I'm single, he didn't mention an ex girlfriend that he that broke his heart, he just asked and it was so different and new and nothing like Angus so I gave him my number.
I walked back to where the others were sitting, Tess had been watching me while I was at the bar.
"Who's the hottie?" she asks, poking me in the ribs
"His name is Charlie, he's a first year at uni, communications degree and he asked for my name" I tell her
"Well check you out, go Zoey" She says hugging me.
I'm moving on but I still can't let him go
